Soccer Super Falcons star leaves Nigerian champions Edo Queens to join Chinese side Liaoning Baiye

After conquering the local scene with Edo Queens, exciting Super Falcons forward Folashade Ijamilusi has joined the class of Nigerian footballers plying their trade abroad, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ijamilusi has completed a move to Chinese Women’s Super League side Liaoning Baiye, signing a two-year contract with the Shenyang-based club.

Ijamilusi’s move to Liaoning Baiye comes as the Chinese side aims to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The deal was facilitated by FIFA-licensed agent Ayodele Thomas, ensuring the Nigerian striker’s transition to Asian football.

Ijamilusi: From FC Robo rookie to Super Falcons star

The youngster departs from Edo Queens after enjoying a highly successful spell with the reigning Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions.

The prolific striker played a pivotal role as Edo Queens’ lifted the domestic title for the first time in the club’s history.

Ijamilusi was also influential as the Benin-based club put together an impressive continental run, where they reached the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The 22-year-old was the NWFL’s top scorer last season, netting eight goals to fire Edo Queens to their maiden league title.

She also shone in the club’s successful West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League campaign, helping them lift the regional trophy in Côte d’Ivoire before starring in their CAF Women’s Champions League debut in Morocco.

Ijamilusi made an instant impact on the continental stage, scoring in Edo Queens’ opening 3-0 victory against CBE FC. She was ever-present throughout their Champions League journey before their heartbreaking semi-final defeat to TP Mazembe.

Her exceptional performances earned her a well-deserved call-up to the Nigerian national team, where she announced herself in stunning fashion.

On her Super Falcons debut, Ijamilusi netted a sensational hat-trick in a friendly against Algeria, helping Nigeria secure a commanding 4-1 win in the second leg of their double-header.
