The best Premier League picks to consider this season

For people who adore sport, the enticing package on offer through Premier League football stands out. A league filled with an abundance of quality, there are also some notable transfers fantasy managers should consider this season. In fact, it’s a competition like no other in that respect, with English football’s top-flight clubs having the financial muscle needed to sign some of the very best players around.

Of course, the Premier League isn’t the only sporting competition hogging the limelight right now. Many NFL fans are currently assessing any fantasy picks and looking at any Super Bowl odds before having a flutter, while there are also big boxing fights on the horizon, such as Daniel Dubois against Joseph Parker, plus a whole host of other unmissable sporting offerings. The Premier League is irresistible for many, though, particularly given the competitive nature of it.

The league’s unpredictable aspect also makes it a real challenge for fantasy managers. Almost every week there are an array of viable picks to consider, many of which create a real headache for managers. Should you manage to make the right calls, though, then you could be flying high at the top of your respective league and enjoy putting your rivals to shame in the group chat.

With that in mind, below are some bright sparks who have already shone in the Premier League this season and should certainly be looked at for your team this campaign.

Goalkeepers

With all managers chasing clean sheets, enlisting the help of a reliable goalkeeper for your fantasy football team is appealing to many. The options are extensive here, although standout picks are players in-between the sticks for some of the league’s most solid teams, including the likes of Arsenal’s David Raya, Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Everton’s Jordan Pickford, and Newcastle United’s Martin Dúbravka. Other options include Bournemouth’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, Crystal Palace stopper Dean Henderson, and Manchester United’s André Onana.

Defenders

Next up are defenders and another set of players to target that can provide you with some much-needed clean sheet points and any assist points from some attack-minded fullbacks. Given Arsenal’s proficiency from set pieces, the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel are worth mulling over. Likewise, Nottingham Forest’s Murillo and Milenkovic are part of one of the meanest defenses in the league this season, while Ola Aina has also contributed with a number of goals and assists already. A familiar choice in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player worth looking at, especially given his crossing and passing ability, while his teammates, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, also deserve some attention. You could also consider Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, and Newcastle’s Lewis Hall.

Midfielders

The Premier League’s midfielders are certainly of a high standard, with many being capable of bringing in plenty of goal and assist points. For starters, Manchester City’s Phil Foden is currently showcasing his undoubted class, while the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon are two other England internationals with a lot of points to their name. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the pick of the bunch, though, with the Reds’ Egyptian King being a must-pick right now. Other midfielders to look at include Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Strikers

If you’re in need of goals, then the Premier League’s cohort of top strikers can deliver them. From Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, there are so many viable picks. Other strikers to look at include Brentford’s YoaneWissa and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
