Fulham make last-minute move for Super Eagles star to join Iwobi and Bassey in London

Fulham have opened last-minute negotiations with AC Milan over a potential deadline day move for Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Cottagers are keen to strengthen their attacking options following an injury to Harry Wilson, who was forced off during their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

With time running out before the transfer window closes, Fulham have identified Chukwueze as a viable target to provide attacking depth.

The 25-year-old has struggled to establish himself at Milan since his €20m move from Villarreal last summer. Despite arriving at San Siro with a strong reputation, he has found consistent game time hard to come by under Sergio Conceicao. His recent performances have drawn criticism, particularly for his role in Inter Milan’s equaliser in Sunday’s derby.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Fulham have now made an approach for the Super Eagles star, with discussions ongoing between both clubs.

Chukwueze was expected to be a key figure for Milan when he joined in July 2023, but his time in Serie A has been underwhelming. In 25 appearances across all competitions this season, he has played just over 1,100 minutes, registering four goals and one assist. With competition fierce on the flanks, he has found himself in and out of the starting lineup.

Despite his struggles, the Nigerian international remains a player in demand.

Premier League sides Arsenal and Aston Villa have previously been linked with him, but Fulham are now pushing to bring him to Craven Cottage before the window shuts.

Marco Silva has been keen to reinforce his squad, particularly in wide areas, where Alex Iwobi has impressed, but Adama Traoré and Wilson have lacked consistency. While a potential return for free agent Willian is also being considered, Chukwueze represents a more dynamic option.

Fulham, who have yet to make a signing this January, are also looking to bring in a right-back, with Kenny Tete sidelined until April.

Chukwueze could be keen to reunite with international teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Fulham.
