Lesli Linka Glatter Loses Home in L.A. Fires

Lesli Linka Glatter, the top TV director-producer and president of the Directors Guild of America, has revealed she lost her Pacific Palisades home in this week’s wildfires that have been burning across Los Angeles.

“Sadly my house is gone, as is so much of the Palisades … this is heartbreaking for many,” Glatter wrote on Instagram. “My heart goes out to all those who have lost so much and to those in danger.”

She added that she was safe at her “son’s house in the valley” and thanked those who reached out to her amid the disaster.

She also shared a letter to DGA members on Friday in which she further reflected on the tragedy: “I have been so fortunate to call Pacific Palisades home. It is where I raised my son and have been living for over 20 years. Tuesday night, I lost my home along with hundreds of others in the Palisades, Malibu, Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre and other communities where we have lived, worked and filmed for so long. This emergency and the hurt so many of us are feeling is far from over, but I know that no matter what, we will somehow persevere and come out on the other side of this.”

In her note, Glatter also elaborated on her thoughts about the wildfires, including how they come after Hollywood has already been battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, actors and writers strikes and “work contraction.” And she expressed her appreciation for the people in the guild and shared resources and ways they can help with recovery efforts.

“I wanted to reach out to you personally as my heart is heavy with so much that has been lost in the ongoing wildfires. And I know that I am not alone,” Glatter wrote. “In every conversation I have had with members over the past few days, the devastating loss has been deeply emotional for all of us. These are communities we love and cherish, places in which we have strong roots, and to feel it is burning all around us has been heartbreaking. I am also angry and sad that this comes at a moment that we were poised to turn a corner after the pandemic, strikes and work contraction — 2025 was to be our year of resurgence.”

She added, “But what gives me hope is you. Every call or email I have had with members has shown me the humanity of our DGA community — an ability to stand together during moments like these — supporting one another with the strength to move forward. And that is what we are going to continue to do — offer support and move forward.”

Glatter is an eight-time Emmy nominee whose directing credits include Homeland, Mad Men, Love & Death, The Morning Show, ER, Gilmore Girls and the upcoming Zero Hour.

Glatter is just the latest entertainment industry figure to see her house destroyed by the L.A. wildfires. Others who’ve shared they lost their homes include Anthony Hopkins, Billy Crystal, Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges, Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton, Jamie Lee Curtis, Diane Warren and Cary Elwes.
