Hip-hop artist Akash Andaaz celebrates the determined, hardworking Haryana spirit on his recent Haryanvi song “Haryanvi Virasat,” which features the voice of Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and works in footage of sporting stars like track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra in action.

There’s plenty of boastfulness, pride and even warnings in that typical Haryanvi way worked into the song, whose music video was out in November and has so far racked up over 170,000 views on YouTube and over 52,000 streams on Spotify. The song is composed and performed with Andaaz, who is also co-writer with lyricist Hitesh Dua and is produced by Call Me Fezz. Throughout, “Haryanvi Virasat” heaps praise on the way the state’s favorite sons and daughters are nurtured and thrive in different fields, all while keeping their unsparing attitude intact.

Andaaz, who is also an actor and filmmaker who released his debut song “Average Boy” in early 2024, says that “Haryanvi Virasat” is “a heartfelt ode” to his home stage. He adds in a statement, “It’s a story of roots, resilience, and pride — a story that I wanted to tell authentically through rap. The track reflects not just the achievements of our icons but also the everyday strength of our people — the farmers, the soldiers, the women, and the children who embody the spirit of our land. It’s raw, powerful, and unapologetic, just like Haryana itself. Through this song, I wanted to give Haryana the voice it deserves — a voice that carries both its legacy and its promise for the future.”

In the music video directed by Adiraj Singh, there’s news footage as well as scenes straight from the Haryana heartland, from wrestling grounds to farmlands and more. Singh says about the making of the video, “With ‘Haryanvi Virasat,’ my vision was to blend the energy of rap with the depth of a documentary — a combination that hasn’t been attempted in this way before.” He acknowledges that crafting a three-minute video that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish was challenging but says that every frame, transition and edit was made in a way that it carried purpose. “My aim was to capture the legacy of Haryana in a way that not only celebrates its icons but also inspires and informs people about its true spirit — a spirit of resilience, ambition, and pride.”

The team credits Hooda not just for lending a voice, but also promoting the “Haryanvi Virasat” video to wider audiences.
