KL Rahul took on the role of opening batsman alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first Test, stepping in for the absent Rohit Sharma. His performance was impressive, scoring a resilient 26 in the first innings and following it up with a solid 77 in the second innings. In the second Test Rahul scored 37 and 7 in the respective innings. However, it was in the third Test where he truly shone delivering a stellar performance with a remarkable 84 in the first innings. His contribution played a crucial role in India’s ability to avoid the follow-on.
Rahul currently stands as India’s leading run-scorer in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy amassing an impressive total of 235 runs. He holds the title of the second-highest run-scorer of the series trailing only behind Australia’s Travis Head.
