Lagos Shuts Down RCCG Parish, Hotels, Other Businesses Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down multiple establishments over noise position.

The Agency disclosed this via its X handle on Thursday.

It revealed that churches, hotels, bars, and other businesses, were shut down for breaching the state’s environmental regulation.

Among the sealed establishments are Daily Bakery, a Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.

LASEPA revealed that the affected establishments had failed to comply with environmental standards, despite receiving prior warnings.

The enforcement exercise, conducted across Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle noise pollution and other environmental infractions in Lagos.

The Agency statement read in part, “In a decisive move to address noise pollution and other violations, LASEPA has sealed several establishments in different parts of Lagos.

“This underscores our commitment to creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for all residents.”

Speaking further, the statement revealed that the General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized the agency’s strict enforcement of environmental standards to safeguard public health and foster community harmony.

“As an agency, we are resolute in our efforts to enforce compliance with environmental laws. Infractions such as noise pollution and improper siting of hazardous facilities pose significant risks to public health and the quality of life in Lagos. Businesses and individuals must prioritize compliance and embrace sustainable practices,” he said.

He further encouraged Lagos residents to report environmental violations via LASEPA’s official channels, stressing the importance of joint action to protect the environment.
