Top 10 Least Visited Countries in the World

Visiting less known places around the world can be just as exciting as going to popular tourist spots. When deciding on a travel destination, you need to think about the weather, landscapes, how much it costs, the cultural sites, the money used there, and how safe it is. 

Many people usually go to well-known places, but the least visited countries have their own special charm. 

An article from ‘The Telegraph,’ using information from the World Tourism Organization, shows that these rarely visited places have beautiful views and special experiences that might even surprise people who travel a lot.

Here are the least visited countries in the world :

Timor-Leste

As the least visited nation in Asia, Timor-Leste saw only 66,000 visitors in 2016. Despite its low tourist numbers, the country’s breathtaking landscapes and rich marine life attract adventurers and divers alike.

Tuvalu

In Oceania, Tuvalu welcomed a mere 2,000 visitors in 2016. Known for its tranquility, the island nation boasts no armed forces, minimal crime, and lacks political parties, offering a peaceful escape.

Anguilla

This Caribbean island drew about 79,000 visitors in 2016. Anguilla is reputed as a holiday spot for celebrities, known for its luxurious resorts and pristine beaches.

Sierra Leone

In Africa, Sierra Leone had 24,000 visitors in 2015, with numbers nearing 74,000 the following year. The country is celebrated for its stunning beaches that rival any tropical paradise.

Comoros

Near Madagascar and Mozambique, the Comoros Islands are a haven for divers. In 2015, around 24,000 tourists explored its vibrant marine life and scenic islands.

Bangladesh

Despite its dense population, Bangladesh attracted only 125,000 visitors in 2016. The country is renowned for its expansive tea plantations and rich cultural heritage.

Sao Tome and Principe

With just 8,000 visitors in 2016, this African nation is known for its captivating Portuguese colonial architecture and lush landscapes.

French Guiana

The least visited country in South America, French Guiana, had about 199,000 visitors in 2016. It offers a blend of French culture with influences from Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines.

Belize

Located in Central America, Belize had 386,000 visitors in 2016. It is a favourite among divers for its rich coral reefs and vibrant marine life.

Moldova

Positioned between Romania and Ukraine, Moldova saw 121,000 visitors in 2016. The capital, Chisinau, features an array of medieval and Roman fortresses, making it a historical treasure trove.
