Orlando Pirates prepare bumper contract for talented midfielder

Orlando Pirates are preparing a new big contract to tie down one of their key operators at the club until at least 2028.

Orlando Pirates prepare new deal for Dlamini

According to Soccer Laduma, Orlando Pirates want to offer a new deal to 28-year-old midfield playmaker Kabelo Dlamini. With his current contract expiring in June 2025, Pirates are keen to tie the left-footer down to a two-year extension with an option for an additional year. Dlamini has become a reliable super-sub option for the Sea Robbers with his knack for scoring or creating goals in big games. He’s got a tally of 150 appearances in their famous jersey.

“He is one player that everyone at the club would like to keep, and that’s why they’re offering him a new two-year deal. Actually, it’s a trophy year, extending straight until June 2027, with an option for one more year. That means he could be at the club until June 2028. I can’t say it’s a done deal yet, but at the same time, I don’t know what can stop it,” the insider revealed.

“First it was Raja Casablanca who was interested, but then things changed. Now there are two clubs in Spain, and the Pirates are fully aware of that. There’s no smoke without fire, and because of this, they want to ensure their player is secured in a safe contractual environment. That’s why the two-year offer with the one-year option is currently on the table,” added their source.

Kimvuidi to leave Orlando Pirates

Meanwhile, another talented midfield schemer could be on his way out. Regular playmaker Patrick Maswanganyi was absent for Pirates’ recent 0-0 draw with Al Ahly. 20-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng played the role while Karim Kimvuidi didn’t come off the bench. The 22-year-old Congolese star has made only two Betway Premiership appearances this term. According to The Citizen, Kimvuidi is growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team minutes under Jose Rieveiro and a trio of African giants are circling to prize him away.

“Pyramids, Simba, and Al-Hilal have all made inquiries about Karim’s (Kimvuidi) availability, but they have only spoken to his agent and are yet to table an offer to Pirates. They all want to sign him in January. But from what I heard, Pirates are only open to sending out on loan for him to get game time somewhere else,” said the source.

Sesane to France?

Soccer Laduma reported on interest in Thabiso Sesane from Ligue 1’s relegation strugglers Montpellier. The 24-year-old has become a pillar of the Pirates back four, appearing in all of their eight league encounters this term. In many ways, he’s become the first name of their team sheet. This consistency has earned him Bafana recognition and admirers abroad. If Montpellier firmed up their interest in the talented Bucs academy graduate with a solid offer, Pirates would have to examine it closely and carefully.
