Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore will be returning to the non-football illness list after suffering “recurring symptoms,” the team announced Thursday.
Barmore was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list in July after being diagnosed and treated for blood clots before returning to the field in November.
In a team statement, the Patriots announced the move back to the reserve list:
“The New England Patriots are placing defensive lineman Christian Barmore on the reserve non-football illness list after he experienced some recurring symptoms that required further evaluation. We appreciate everything Christian did to return to the team this season, but our top priority is Christian’s health and wellbeing. We know that he will continue to receive tremendous care and we want to ensure that he gets the time he needs to come back stronger than ever.”
This ends his season. Barmore, 25, was activated last month after missing the first 10 games of the season, playing the past four games for New England. He totaled six tackles and one sack in 2024.
A second-round pick by the Patriots in 2021, Barmore has 13.5 career sacks, 139 tackles, 33 QB hits, nine passes defensed and a forced fumble in 48 career games (11 starts). Following Barmore’s 8.5-sack season in 2023, the Patriots signed him to a four-year, $83 million extension in April.
