The Nigerian international, who has been on hot form for his club since his return from Nigeria’s international friendly clash against Ghana and Mali scoring three goals in four matches.

Despite the setback, the former FC Midtjylland midfielder showcased his prowess by netting a crucial goal for Club Brugge in the 44th minute of the game.

His well-placed shot into the bottom right corner marked his third goal of the playoffs Championship, closing the gap between the Blue-blacks and Anderlecht who sits atop the Championship Playoff standings.

He will therefore miss Club Brugge’s next clash against Union SG who Victor Boniface previously played for before joining Bayer Leverkusen during the 2023 Summer transfer window.

Away from his suspension, the Nigeria has so far been linked to joining top European teams like Galatasaray, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

However, Everton who has previously signed many Nigerian players like Joseph Yobo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Alex Iwobi and a host of others are reportedly eyeing the midfielder’s signature.

Reports suggest that the Goodinson Park outfits have identified Onyedika as a potential replacement for Amadou Onana, who has been linked with a move away from Everton.
