The Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) of 2023 is already touted to go down in history as the event during which Apple’s first-gen VR/AR headset is unleashed. However, the latest version of iOS is now also projected to vie for the spotlight by unlocking app sideloading on iPhones for the first time. The Conference is also now rumored to introduce iPadOS optimized for OLED and watchOS optimized for an underwhelming hardware upgrade.

WWDC 2023 is firmly believed to turn into the Apple Reality (and xrOS) show in June of this year; however, Apple will reportedly also remember more conventional devices such as MacBooks and their latest models during the event.

The Developer’s Conference is also now projected to see software launches, those for a new iPad UI that gets ready for the rumored switch to OLED and watchOS that might go up to v.10 included. According to Bloomberg tech contributor Mark Gurman, the latter might get a lot of time on stage, as the new major update has a lot of to unpack.

That alleged potential for new software-based features might turn out to be inversely proportional to the hardware updates to be found in the “Watch series 9/X“, not to mention the “Ultra 2“.

Finally, Gurman now predicts that iOS 17 might be the major version in which Apple rolls the option of sideloading out to iPhones, in accordance “with new European regulations” to come into effect in 2024.
