Unveiled last fall, the 2022 Apple TV 4K looks mostly the same as its predecessors but internally there have been some significant changes. The new device is powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chip for up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to 30% faster graphics compared to the 2021 model. Apple TV 4K now supports HDR10 Plus, in addition to Dolby Vision, for a more detailed picture.

The base model now offers 64GB of internal storage, up from 32GB previously, and retails for $129 — down from $179 previously. If you want a wired Ethernet port, something previously included in the base-spec Apple TV 4K, you’ll need to go for the $149 model, though you’ll also get 128GB of storage for that price.

Apple is offering a couple of different Apple TV 4K configurations for the 2022 iteration. The only differences are the capacity and the inclusion of Ethernet, but the price has changed. Here’s how US pricing breaks down:
- Apple TV 4K (64GB, Wi-Fi): $129
- Apple TV 4K (128GB, Wi-Fi + Ethernet): $149

Walmart is offering $4 off the 64GB Apple TV 4K model, dropping it down to $125. It isn’t much of a saving, but it is enough to buy you a movie on iTunes. The 128GB version is seeing a similar discount there, too.

B&H is also offering a small direct discount of $4 on 2022 Apple TV 4K. There’s another neat way to save there, though, with its own-brand B&H Payboo credit card that gives you the tax back as cash-back. That could be a decent chunk of change depending on where you live.
While you’ll pay a dollar over its normal retail price at Best Buy, ordering the new Apple TV 4K there will score you 30 days of FuboTV Pro (worth $70) for new subscribers plus three months of Apple TV Plus, four months of Apple Arcade, and four months of Apple Music for new or returning subscribers.

Order your 2022 Apple TV 4K direct at Apple from $129. You’ll score three months of Apple TV Plus with your purchase if you’re new to the service and you can use your Apple Card to pay in instalments and get 3% cash-back.
Order the Apple TV 4K at Target and you can have it shipped within a few days or available to pick up in-store within hours. There’s no direct discount, but Target RedCard holders can save 5%, as always, which works out to as much as $7.50 off the top-spec model.
The Apple TV 4K is not currently available at Amazon. We have seen it go for as low as $123 there previously.
