According to new reports, Xiaomi is preparing to release the CIVI 3 in as little as two months, even though it is only just on the verge of bringing the CIVI 2 to market outside China as the Xiaomi 13 Lite. Reputedly, the Xiaomi CIVI 3 will feature a faster chipset than its predecessor and the same Sony IMX800 primary camera found in the Xiaomi 13.

Digital Chat Station has commented on the state of the CIVI 3, which would actually be the fourth CIVI model after the CIVI, CIVI 1S and the CIVI 2. For reference, Xiaomi will soon release the CIVI 2 outside China as the Xiaomi 13 Lite. The latter will debut later this week before MWC 2023 alongside the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro and MIUI 14, the company’s latest Android offshoot. According to Digital Chat Station, the CIVI 3 will refine the CIVI 2, which launched in September with two front-facing cameras arranged in a Dynamic Island-style cluster.

Purportedly, the CIVI 3 will retain its predecessor’s twin front-facing camera set up with dual 32 MP sensors. These sensors will sit within the same 6.55-inch AMOLED display too that operates at 1080p and 120 Hz. In other words, the CIVI 2 and CIVI 3 may look identical from the front. However, Xiaomi will replace the 50 MP primary camera (Sony IMX766) in the CIVI 2 with the Sony IMX800, another 50 MP sensor found in the Redmi K60 Pro and Xiaomi 13.

Digital Chat Station believes that Xiaomi will also equip the CIVI 3 with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200, details of which we have covered in a dedicated article. In short, the Dimensity 8200 should yield significantly better performance than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 powering the CIVI 2. Surprisingly, the leaker asserts that the CIVI 3 could arrive in two months’ time, or seven months after the CIVI 2 debuted. The CIVI series is likely to remain a Chinese exclusive though, with a global equivalent likely launching many months later, as is the case with the CIVI 2 and the Xiaomi 13 Lite.
