Mace scoops City of London office scheme

Contractor Mace has been picked to build a 12-storey office scheme in the City of London.

Developers BauMont Real Estate Capital and YardNine chose Mace to deliver the ‘Edenica’ office and retail development, which lies between Chancery Lane and Fleet Street.

The scheme has an estimated completion date of late 2024.

Edenica is the first scheme within the City of London to be designed as a ‘storage bank’, where materials are held for future reuse through the issuing of ‘material passports’. These are digital data sets that describe characteristics of materials and components in products and systems, giving them value for present use, recovery and future reuse.

The job includes the demolition of the former DAC Beachcroft offices and the White Swan pub at 108 Fetter Lane. The design includes roof gardens, a new pedestrian route and pocket square at ground level, as well as ancillary cycle parking.

The White Swan pub will be relocated to the north-east corner of the site.

Designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, the 8,825 square metre scheme will target a BREEAM Outstanding rating as well as WiredScore, SmartScore and WELL certifications.

Mace managing director for office construction Ged Simmonds claimed the development was “raising the bar on sustainability through the use of material passports, as well as smart technology to enhance occupier wellbeing”.

YardNine director Campbell MacDougall described the selection of Mace as “an important milestone in the delivery of Edenica”.
