£1.5bn retrofit framework unveiled

A consortium of housing associations is looking for contractors and consultants for a retrofit framework worth £1.48bn.

The Greener Futures Partnerships is looking to decarbonise its housing stock through works including installation of solar panels and heat pumps, insulation and roofing.

The consortium – made up of housing providers Abri, Anchor, Home Group, Hyde and Sanctuary – plans to carry out works across England and Wales over the next three years. The framework has been designed with an option to extend it by another four years beyond that, in line with the government’s timetable for reducing energy consumption in buildings.

The framework could also be made available to other interested contracting authorities, a tender notice released this week said.

Up to 120 places are available across a number of slots, with a deadline to apply set for the end of February.

In November, chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced the formation of a new Energy Efficiency Taskforce, charged with driving improvement in domestic dwellings, and £6bn of funding for such works from 2025-2028.

At the time, he said: “By 2030, we want to reduce energy consumption from buildings and industry by 15 per cent.

“Our commitment to the British people is, over time, to remove the single biggest driver of inflation and volatility facing British businesses and consumers.”

Tender documents for the Greener Futures Partnerships Decarbonisation Delivery Framework can be found here.
