Construction News launches sector activity analysis service

Construction News today launches a new service for readers, providing a detailed breakdown of monthly UK construction activity by sector and region.

CN Intelligence will be updated each month with the latest data and analysis on contract awards, planning approvals and project starts from partner-firm Glenigan.

The service gives construction professionals the ability to track activity and prospects, along with market-performance forecasts, helping to inform investment decisions and strategic business-planning.

CN editor Colin Marrs said: “At a time when the construction sector is seeing pressure from increasing material and labour costs, it is vital that construction firms have a firm grip on what is happening in the market.

“CN Intelligence helps them do just that – showing which regions of the country are development hotspots and which sectors are performing well.”

Robert Davis, content director at Glenigan, said:  “We’ve partnered with Construction News for many years, and we’re delighted to have built on this relationship to provide our industry insights for the new CN Intelligence section.

“Our aim is to help keep the market up-to-date and informed, with detailed insights into construction performance trends, and CN Intelligence is a great platform for us to support that.”

Each month, the service will provide:

  • A summary of activity for the UK as a whole, by region and by sector, updated each month.
  • A detailed look at activity in each of the UK’s 12 regions, including Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  • Analysis of the performance of nine main construction sectors, including housing, retail and commercial.

In addition, Glenigan economics director Allan Wilen will write a new monthly column about trends in the industry.

Subscribers automatically receive the CN Intelligence service as part of their subscription, but for a limited time, selected articles are available to all readers.
