Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, shared a raw and unique perspective on being an NFL spouse after Damar Hamlin’s scary injury.

As hard as it was for fans and media to witness Damar Hamlin’s collapse on Monday Night Football, it had to be a million times worse for the spouses and family members of NFL players across the country.

Kelly Hall, Rams QB Matthew Stafford’s wife, highlighted that with a social media post that hit on the raw emotions felt by NFL family.

“It’s ok to not be ok,” Hall wrote, calling attention to the fear that family members have to deal with every time their loved ones take the field.

Football Kelly Stafford highlighted the distress of NFL families over Damar Hamlin

“It’s ok to not be ok.

“To all the women who have significant others playing on that field. I’m with you if you’re not ok. I’m not ok and I continue to ask myself the tough questions. I wish someone could promise use that the people we fell in love with will be those same people when they are finished playing this game, but we all know, that is a promise that can not be made.

“We all know how hard our men work and have worked their whole lives to be on that field and we don’t take those dreams lightly. However it does not mean we always have to be strong/never break support. It’s ok to be vulnerable and talk about it, especially with the man you love most.

“Continuing to lift up Damar in prayer. Continuing to lift his family, friends and teammates up in prayer. And I will continue to pray for all of you.

“It’s ok to not be ok.”

Hall’s perspective is worth amplifying. Mental health around the NFL is sure to be impacted by this situation, from players confronting their own mortality while watching Hamlin undergoing CPR on the field to their families who no doubt have had “what ifs” running through their heads since.

Hamlin and his family need all the support they can get right now. So does the entire NFL family.
